Chancing a closer look, I placed one foot on a packed-dirt floor of the kitchen. My other foot followed. I looked back at Cinderella - I mean Gabriella - who watched from the other side of the miraculous door. Behind her, I could still see the sacks of boxes in my grandmother's attic. Gazing into reality while standing in a fantasy was a pretty weird sensation. Then, witho...more

As you can see, I'm not Cinderella added a sleeve on, and What is Hidden did some pretty egregious color swapping, but it's clearly and noticeably the same photo. Honestly, things like this happen more often than you would think, especially if we go down the self-publishing rabbit hole, but by coincidence it happened to be two Cinderella stories released about the same time to a very similar audience so it got picked up on. TarrahNo, the two books are not related in any way. Even though they both have awesome covers. ;)

WOW! This book is WAY BEYOND GOOD!
WONDERFUL!
MAGICAL!
BRILLIANT!
I purchased the book simply because I fell in love with the cover!
Then I saw the word Cinderella on it and knew I wanted to read it!
Then I saw the title 'I'm NOT Cinderella' and knew it would be a 'twist' to the story that every girl loves and I was hooked!
The story that unfolds is everything I imagined it would be and so much more!
When Brinlee stumbles upon a hidden door in the attic she just happens to meet the real Cinderella.

This book started slow and I kept wondering why everyone liked it. Took me quite a while to get into it but when I did I really liked it and will read more of her books. Another fun, light book.

This was SO much fun for me!! I was hooked basically from the beginning. My friends and I watched the Slipper and the Rose over and over and we even paused it in some parts. I very much got wrapped up in it (both the movie and this book). There was one thing that I was able to predict with relative ease, but the ending did surprise me. There were a couple of things that I found a little weird. Every now and then Tarrah threw in some 'old time' sounding things, and they just didn't quite fit. Als...more
My daughter read this one before me and I've finally had a chance to squeeze it in to my to-read stack. ;)
Fun (kinda confusing at times), romantic story about what a modern day girl who LOVES all things Cinderella does when she is suddenly swapped with a girl who happens to BE Cinderella and all the things that occur in Cinderella's world when Brinlee is in Cinderella's place instead. So many more twists and turns than I expected and I thought it was a clever story.

I loved this book so much! The romance was heart-melting and at times I was on the edge of my seat with the plot. It didn’t go the way you’d expect for a Cinderella story to go and that made it all the better.
—Spoilers here--
I wanted to see Dennan and Brinlee’s conversation when she returned instead of going straight to the epilogue, but it was good still the same.

I loved this adaptation of Cinderella. Finally the Prince has a background!!
It was hard for me to get into this book, but in the end I was happy with the story. Didn't love the 'high school voice' narrator. It was dragging the story along. But I liked the plot.

This was a lighthearted, sweet retelling with a unique fairy tale to modern world connection. I quite enjoyed it.
In this book a girl named Brinlee is obsessed with the story of Cinderella. She always dreamed of being in Cinderella's world and she freaks out when she finds out that she can. Brinlee finds a magical portal in her closet that leads to Cinderella's world. Cinderella and Brinlee switch places. After something happens she mights a mysterious man named Blackrider. Blackrider helps her unlock the mysteries of Sherwood Manor.

I loved the beginning of this book so much. The main character is quirky, and a little bit random which made her fun to read. The premise of this book was also enticing -- a regular girl gets dropped in the middle of a fairy tale? Sweet!
However, I found the plot predictable (though the author did have a brilliant way of setting up hooks for each opening chapter). As much as I loved Brinlee's character in the beginning, by the middle, I was frustrated with her. Mostly because she fell into the ch...more

I read this book because of friendship with the Montgomery family. We have been friends with Dennis Montgomery's family since we moved to Snowflake in 1965. His son Ryan's wife, Tarrah, wrote this book, so I HAD to read it.
I normally don't gravitate to romance novels, and am selective about the fantasy I read. Since this cute book has both those elements, it is not my favorite genre. But I have to say it is a charming book with a twist on the old Cinderella story. Once I got into the story, I...more

So I will be honest I only picked up this book because of the cover..sometimes I judge books by their cover's. Yep I know horrible habit. It looked interesting and it was on a summer book list so I decided hey why not? I am very happy to say that this book took me by surprise and that does not happen very often. It is a very fresh new version of Cinderella. Brinlee's description of corsets had me taking back every wish I had ever made to live in an era that had them! This book is definitely wort...more
This book and the characters started off a little too cheesy for me initially, but they became more enjoyable as the story progressed. The question of how the Cinderella story would be righted, and did I want it to be, kept me turning pages. I liked how the author shared bits of other Cinderella stories and the way it fit with the main character's love for all things Cinderella. I gained a new appreciation for Cinderella from those tidbits. Overall a fun, light hearted read with characters that...more
I'm having a hard time describing how I feel about this book. In many ways I really liked it. It was clean. I'm always happy about that. It's a fairy tale so it wasn't supposed to be realistic. But there are some things that seemed over the top. That actually didn't bother me a great deal. I think the biggest problem I had with it was I was drawn to reading it. It seemed to take much longer to read than it should have. Overall I liked it and I will probably read more of her books as she writes t...more

A twist on Cinderella, no one really saw coming. I'm not Cinderella is all about Brinlee a girl from Idaho who's favorite fairy tale is Cinderella. By some unfortunate mishap, she switches places with the girl and finds herself being a threat to the love story and surrounded by the secrets of Cinderella's family and their lives. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

I started this book months ago and slowly made my way through the first few chapters then gave up. I was so bored. Picked it up again a couple days ago and was frustrated with the silliness and predictability of it so I skipped 100 pages and started reading from there. That's when I couldn't stop reading. Problem? I pretty much know exactly what happened in those pages. The first 3/4 was extremely predictable, but the ending wasn't! I never thought I'd say this but I MIGHT read another one of th...more
3.5 stars. This book is definitely geared for the high school girl dreaming of her prince charming! I know the author of this book, so I had to see what it was about, even though it's not something I would typically read. ;) This book was a bit cheesy(the teenage storyteller gave her thoughts a lot) with romance and a little adventure. Overall, I thought it was a cute book, with a fun twist on the Cinderella story. Would recommend for hopeless romantics in or around high school age!

Took at least three attempts to start and read more than a few pages. Couldn't take it seriously with the dialogue and the characters were not people I got behind. Main character's obsession was disturbing rather than charming and I don't think the story concept was executed well. The inner dialogue was distracting and irritating. Ok, I have gone on long enough for a book that was not interesting to read.

This is an interesting twist on the Cinderella tale. I really enjoyed the storyline and even most of the characters. I didn't love all the modern idioms and slang being used by 12th century-ish characters, nor did I enjoy the dozens of pop-culture references, quotes, and song lyrics. This all jarred me out of the story multiple times. I might read the sequel, but I likely will not reread this.
I love the cover of this book and that it's a Cinderella-type story. It seemed like it was aimed more at teenagers than some of the other clean novels I've read lately. It grew on me as the story progressed though, and I like how things tied in that will lead to other books in the series - if I can keep all the characters and their back-stories straight!
I LOVE fairy tales. They are my favorite read! This one had a slow start but in the end I was smitten with the story. It was very predictable but at the same time I had to keep reading to see how it work out in the end. Looking for a fairy tale to put a smile on your face this is a great book to do just that! Did that just sound like a kid at the end of reading rainbow?
I love a good Cinderella story. This one was am interesting new take on the classic fairy tale. The writing was a bit choppy and the flashbacks were hard to follow. It was interesting to include excerpts from all the old classic versions of Cinderella. My teenager read it in about 6 hours, and loved it so much she sat down and reread it the very next day!
It took me awhile to really get into the book and I did end up figuring out most of the plot twists before the end, but there were a couple of surprises still. It ended up being a cute story, although I wish the main character would've been older. It would've made the love story part a little more believable if it was about a woman in her 20's rather than a girl in high school.

This book was amazing!! Truly one of my favorites. Loved the characters especially Dennan, he is to die for dreamy! And Brinlee's character is all around funny especially with her cheesy pick up lines and when she is around Dennan! Loved the Cinderella/Robin Hood retelling, this book was pure bliss!!!

Cute read with interesting twists
These are fun takes on fairy tales placing a main character between the fairy tale and real world. It's an easy afternoon read. Fans of Once Upon a Time will enjoy the author's take on happily ever after.

This book was so amazing! I loved every minute of it! The cover is so beautiful, but the story is just as great! Montgomery took Cinderella, the old fairytale, and twisted it just a little to make it her own! I loved it! It was really creative!

This book was super cheesy and so predictable! Plus the inner dialogue drove me crazy. It was very distracting and completely unnecessary. The storyline was clever but it needed to run smoother. It was a light and easy read, but I'm not sure if I would read another one of her books.
